Features
When you’re on the water, the GPSMAP 78sc will help improve your performance. It gives you preloaded US coastal charts, a 3-axis compass, barometric altimeter, color mapping and a high-sensitivity GPS receiver, along with rubber side grips and a microSD card slot for loading additional maps. And it floats, too.Become an explorer
With the built-in BlueChart g2 coastal charts and a worldwide basemap with imagery, you can go anywhere you need to go. Your map’s details include shorelines, depth contours, navaids, harbors and marinas for the US and the Bahamas. And, the GPSMAP 78sc is IPX7 waterproof.
All the data you need
The GPSMAP 78sc will always tell you exactly where you are. It is equipped with a 3-axis tilt-compensated compass, which always shows your heading even if you aren’t standing still or holding it level. And the barometric altimeter uses pressure changes to give you your precise altitude. You can use it to plot barometric pressure over time, which helps you anticipate weather changes.
Go social
Your GPSMAP 78sc allows you to share waypoints, tracks, geocaches and routes wirelessly with other compatible Garmin devices. Just press “send” to transfer your information to your friends.
Know where you are
GPSMAP 78sc has a high-sensitivity WAAS-enabled GPS receiver and HotFix satellite prediction to determine your location quickly and accurately, no matter your surrounding terrain.
Customize your maps
With Garmin’s collection of detailed topographic, marine and road maps, available on a microSD card you can easily add and customize your maps. If you’re hitting the water, just insert BlueChart g2 preloaded cards. And if you’re preparing for a road trip, City Navigator NT map data provides turn-by-turn directions. GPSMAP 78sc supports subscription-based BirdsEye Satellite Imagery, which integrates satellite images with your maps. And, GPSMAP 78sc is compatible with the free software Custom Maps, which transforms paper and electronic maps into downloadable files.
All your data in one place
With a connection to your computer and the internet, you can get detailed analysis of your activities, and send tracks to your outdoor device with Garmin Connect. You’ll get activity tables and a chance to see your activities on a Google Earth map. You can explore routes uploaded by millions of Garmin Connect users, and share your experience on Twitter and Facebook.
A geocacher’s dream
Your GPSMAP 78sc can download geocaching GPX files. Your device stores and displays key details, including terrain, location, difficulty, hints and descriptions. You won’t need any more printouts or manually-entered coordinates.Just upload the GPX file to your unit and start hunting.
