The Garmin Monterra is truly a revolutionary GPS device. The Monterra is the first Wi-Fi enabled GPS unit, using the Android operating system to give you a unique navigation experience.

The Monterra is a durable, top-of-the-line handheld GPS device that comes packed with features. If you are an outdoor professional or enthusiast, you can customize your Monterra to perfectly suit your needs and wants. A 4-inch color, multi-touch display and 3D MapMerge technology means you’ll see your surroundings in vivid color and painstaking detail when you combine graphics from different maps – such as BirdsEye Satellite Imagery and GIS maps.

Garmin and Android power up
With the Android operating system, you can use your Monterra to access all of your favorite Google Play apps, including PeakFinder, star constellation charts and ballistic calculator. You can also use professional apps like construction estimators and ArcGIS.  

Merge your maps
You won’t find a better mapping tool than the Monterra, with its custom 3-D mapping. You can combine two maps, such as BaseCamp or TOPO, to see one unique 3-D map with visible texture like hills, valleys and lakes. For example, after merging a BirdsEye map with a TOPO U.S. 24K map or GIS-based water table map, just use the touchscreen to zoom in, pan out or rotate.

Super Powered
Monterra’s dual battery system keeps you going for hours. You can use the included rechargeable lithium-ion pack or traditional AA batteries. The lithium ion pack charges while the device is connected to an external power source.

Very photogenic
The Monterra’s built-in 8 megapixel autofocus digital camera captures the moments you love. You can take vivid, geo-tagged photos for easy return navigation, and you get a 1080p HD video camera with LED flash/torch. You can download all your media to your computer or share through Garmin Adventures. Not only does the Monterra have loads of internal memory, you can use its microSD card slot to get an additional 64 gigabytes of memory.

No squinting
You won’t have to worry about reading your Monterra’s screen. That’s because Monterra’s reflective display technology combines external light – such as sunlight – with its LED backlight to maximize brightness and readability. You can conserve power by keeping the backlight off.

Know where you are
Monterra’s built-in 3-axis electronic compass with accelerometer and gyro tells you where you’re heading even when you’re standing still or not holding it level. The barometric altimeter senses changes in pressure to figure out your precise altitude, and you can use it to plot barometric pressure over time, which helps you anticipate changing weather conditions.

You can avoid sun damage with Monterra’s built-in UV sensor tells you your exposure to sunlight. This is especially useful at higher elevations or on bright, reflective surfaces such as snow or water. With a WAAS, GPS and GLONASS enabled receiver, Monterra tells you your exact position no matter your surroundings.

Go social
Use your Monterra’s Wi-Fi, ANT+, Bluetooth and NFC capabilities to share your maps, data, waypoints, tracks, routes and geocaches up to 50 times faster than other devices.  You can also use BaseCamp to share large files.

Add your own maps
You can easily add other Garmin maps to your Monterra. Use subscription-based BirdsEye Satellite Imagery, or add Trailhead Series Topo maps or GIS-based maps.

Geocaching overload
The Monterra holds millions of geocaches, so you don’t need to be choosy. Just download all of them. You can download every cache on OpenCaching.com or load coaches from GSAK. You can also use your favorite geocaching app for Android. You can read full descriptions, hints and logs, or filter caches by size, difficulty, terrain and type. You can also connect to chirp-enabled caches.

It’s a radio, too
Use Monterra’s built-in FM radio and NOAA weather radio with SAME alerts to get vital safety information or endless entertainment. You can listen with headphones or use Monterra’s built-in speakers to broadcast to your entire group.

Time to Plan
BaseCamp gives you full control of your next outing. You can use the free software to view and organize maps, waypoints, routes and tracks. And you can use BaseCamp to create Garmin Adventures to share with others. Basecamp features topographic map data in 2-D or 3-D, and includes contour lines and elevation profiles. When linked with your BirdsEye Satellite Imagery subscription, you can transfer unlimited satellite images to your Monterra.

It goes where you go, no matter where you go
With so many compatible mounts, Monterra is right at home on your boat, in your car, on your ATV or in your hand. The auto mount gives Monterra a spot in your car, while the rugged mount goes on your motorcycle or ATV.
