The eTrex Vista HCx uses a high-sensitivity WAAS-enabled receiver to accurately locateyour position and maintain your GPS location, no matter what terrain surrounds you.
Use the eTrex Vista HCx’s barometric altimeter to pinpoint your exact altitude and
track changes in pressure to help you anticipate changing weather conditions. And the
built-in electronic compass provides your bearing even when you’re standing still.
With eTrex Vista HCx’s microSD card slot, it’s simple to add maps without even turning
on your computer. All you need to do is insert optional preloaded microSD cards with
MapSource data for fun on land and water. And, if you need turn-by-turn directions,
just plug in a MapSource card with detailed street maps. And don’t worry about getting
your card slot wet, it’s located in the waterproof battery compartment.
Just like its cousins in the eTrex series, the Vista HCx is compact and lightweight,
making it perfect for travel. It’s not only waterproof, but its 256-color,
sunlight-readable display means you’ll have no trouble distinguishing map details, no
matter how brightly the sun shines.

by Tomohiro H, , 11/19/2010I could use 4GB SDHC momory card with this model. I use the map which is made by "BMap2MP", free software. This software can convert raster maps to garmin vector format.The display response is a little slow, but I can use it much-practically with climbing.
